Vitamins and Nerves: Which Ones Matter and Which Can Backfire
Several vitamins and minerals support normal nerves: B12, B1, B6, folate, vitamin E and copper. Too little of some, or far too much B6, can itself harm nerves. Flow Nerves names six ingredients and no vitamin B12 among them, so a blood test, not a guess, should lead.

Overview01
Which vitamins link to nerve health?
Six nutrients come up most: B12, B1, B6, folate, vitamin E and copper.
| Nutrient | Role in nerves | Problem when off |
|---|---|---|
| Vitamin B12 | Helps keep nerve cells and blood healthy | Low levels can cause numbness and tingling 1 |
| Vitamin B1 (thiamin) | Helps nerves use energy | Deficiency is linked to nerve damage, often with heavy alcohol use |
| Vitamin B6 | Used in nerve signalling | Too little or too much can harm nerves |
| Folate (B9) | Cell growth and repair | Low levels often travel with low B12 |
| Vitamin E | Antioxidant for cell membranes | Rare deficiency can affect balance and feeling |
| Copper | Needed for nerve covering and function | Low copper can cause numbness and gait trouble |
NINDS lists vitamin problems, including too much of some, among the causes of peripheral neuropathy 2.
Too much02
Can too much vitamin B6 hurt your nerves?
Yes. B6 is one of the few vitamins where a very high intake over time can itself cause nerve symptoms.
The trap is stacking. B6 sits in multivitamins, "energy" blends and nerve formulas, so two or three products can add up. Symptoms often start as tingling or numbness in the feet and hands, the same complaint people were trying to fix. If you take several products with B6, add up the label amounts, or ask a pharmacist to do it with you. Do not exceed what a clinician advises.
Tell a clinician, bring the bottles and send a report to MedWatch 3. Keep taking prescribed medicine as directed.
B1203
Is B12 the one to check first?
Often, yes, because it is common to run low and simple to test.
Older adults, vegetarians and people with some stomach conditions are at higher risk. NIH ODS says the long-term use of acid-lowering drugs and metformin can lower B12 1. A study of metformin users points the same way 4. A blood test finds the level in minutes, and the fix, if one is needed, is set by a clinician.
Our B12 and nerves guide covers the test and the symptoms in full.

Where does Flow Nerves fit among vitamins?
It does not name any of the six vitamins above.
The blend names magnesium glycinate, alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom root extract, L-carnitine, turmeric extract and coenzyme Q10, with no amounts. So it will not stand in for a B12 correction, and it does not add to your B6 total. That makes it a different kind of product from a B-complex. No source tested the finished capsule, and the single-ingredient studies used amounts the label does not print.
- Ask for a B12 test if you have numbness in the hands or feet.
- List every vitamin you take for the pharmacist.
- Do not pile up several nerve products at once.

FAQ06
Flow Nerves questions people ask
Which single vitamin is most linked to numbness in the feet?
Vitamin B12 is the usual first suspect, though diabetes and other causes are more common. A blood test sorts it out.
Can a B-complex cause tingling?
Very high B6 intake over time can. Check the label totals if you take more than one product with B6.
Does copper matter for nerves?
Yes. Low copper is uncommon but can cause numbness and walking trouble, so a clinician may test it when other causes are ruled out.
Is B12 listed anywhere on the Flow Nerves bottle?
No. B12 is not among the six names printed in the blend.
